The Latitude Z600 is Dell’s business orientated laptop that comes with a striking design and a large amount of rather impressive software but it is only a business companion for those who can afford and those who really need such a laptop for their business. It's screen is an inch bigger than the Dell Studio 15, but the price tag is a lot more.
Red cherry coating

The machine is coated with a cherry red coating that looks attractive and the laptop’s large chassis means that it can incorporate a great 16-inch screen and also a large backlit keyboard similar to the Alienware M15x that is rather comfortable to use besides a slight bit of flex.

As previously mentioned, the Dell Latitude Z600 is crammed with Dell software - some of which is quite useful. For instance, Dell Capture uses the laptop’s webcam to take photos of your business cards which can be catalogued and even exported to Outlook.

Furthermore, the screen is touch sensitive. Well, I should say, the right hand side of the screen is touch-sensitive. When you touch the bottom of the frame a number of options appear, giving you access to various applications, it even lets you scroll through

The Dell Latitude Z600 is powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo processor backed by 4GB RAM, similar to the Toshiba Tecra M11 which is more than sufficient to handle multi-tasking but anything rather intensive will leave this laptop lagging behind. Furthermore, the integrated graphics is poor when it comes to gaming and even worse when it comes to 3D performance.

Having said that, it is more than adequate for watching movies - especially considering the 16inch screen features a fantastic 16:9 aspect ratio similar to the Dell Inspiron 17R.
Battery life

This Dell Latitude Z600 is a very portable laptop thanks to the large chassis and 16-inch 16:9 screen being contained in a 2.1kg shell. The Dell Latitude Z600 battery life of 3.5 hours which is just above average - but our tests saw it whittle out at just over 2 hours.

Overall, the Dell Latitude Z600 is rather impressive and would certainly be a prize winner if it wasn’t for such a price tag especially considering it comes with a load of ports as standard such as Wi-Fi, Ethernet, 2x USB2, eSATA, and a DisplayPort.
